Confidence goes a long way, a wise man once said. After Newcastle United’s massive win vs Liverpool last week, they were facing a daunting task at White Hart Lane versus one of the Premier League’s top clubs, Tottenham Hotspurs. Finding themselves down 1-0 after Eric Dier’s 39th minute header, Newcastle turned their game around after half time. I’m not sure what Steve McClaren said in the locker room, but this was a completely different team. Ayoze Perez was brought on in the 63rd minute and Mitrovic in the 72nd; both were game changing substitutions by McClaren. The energy and work ethic that they both bring to this club is massive. In the 74th minute, Mitrovic tied the game up and Ayoze put NUFC ahead in extra time. A massive 3 points which saw Newcastle United move up the table and into 15th place. NUFC have now beaten Tottenham at WHL 3 times in a row. Like Lee Ryder said, “Three Point Lane”. Once again, confidence goes a long way; and when you start winning games, it’s a contagious feeling.
