After the Everton defeat, I wrote about how badly Steve McClaren managed his side. More precisely how he did not use any substitutions until the 85th minute even though the team had to travel to West Brom in less than 48 hours for another match. The big story was Rob Elliott’s pre-game illness, which did not let him start the match and 25 year-old youngster Karl Darlow was asked to step in. After several goal line clearances, West Brom finally capitalized on one of their chances; ex-Man United center midfielder Darren Fletcher headed a goal past Darlow and that would be how the game finished, 1-0.
